Join our volunteers

Join our growing group of volunteers making up jigsaws for the Festival!  These could either be your own jigsaws, or we can arrange for donated jigsaws to be delivered to you.  We recommend that if you receive jigsaws from us, you put them aside in ‘quarantine’ for 72 hours before touching them and follow the current government advice regarding hygiene

Displaying jigsaws

All made up jigsaws at the Festival will be displayed on sturdy cardboard. The last thing you want is to complete your jigsaw, only for a mishap to occur before it goes on display with a piece being lost or worse still, the whole jigsaw breaking up.  To ensure this doesn’t happen, please:
  1. Make up the jigsaw on a sturdy sheet of cardboard. If you need one, please ask us and we will provide one which is the right size.
  2. Cut the cardboard so that it is slightly larger than the jigsaw. There should be a minimum one inch (2.5 centimetres) margin of cardboard around the puzzle.
  3. Tightly wrap clingfilm all the way around the jigsaw and cardboard base, so that the jigsaw is completely sealed and cannot break loose. We will remove the clingfilm shortly before the festival as the jigsaw will look better without it.
  4. Do not use tape/glue etc to fix the jigsaw to the cardboard, or to hold the clingfilm in place.
  5. If you want to make your jigsaw look extra special, cover the margin with black gaffer tape before you start making the jigsaw. This will make the jigsaw look like a framed picture. NB It is not essential to do this.

I don’t have cardboard - where can I get some from?

Don’t worry if you don’t have access to cardboard – just get in touch and we will arrange for some to be delivered to you, all prepared and cut to size.  We recommend that when you receive a cardboard base from us, you put it aside in ‘quarantine’ for 72 hours before touching it and follow the current government advice on hand hygiene

What if there is a piece of jigsaw missing?

If you find out when you finish a jigsaw that there is an odd piece missing, we may still be able to use the jigsaw. But in this case, please note the fact clearly on a slip of paper and stick it to the clingfilm.

What should I do with the jigsaw once it is completed?

Once you have completed the jigsaw, please let us know so we can track where all completed jigsaws are.  If you can, please email us a photo for our social media page.

Please note that neither of our churches are open to accept donated or completed jigsaws

I don’t have room to store the completed jigsaws – what do I do?

If you don’t have space to store the completed jigsaw, please get in touch to arrange delivery or collection.

Please note that neither of our churches are open to accept donated or completed jigsaws

What’s your jigsaw story?

Do you have a reason for choosing to make a particular puzzle?  Does it remind you of a special time or place, person or hobby?  If so, visitors to the festival might like to know about it too. If you want to - and there’s no pressure whatsoever to do so - please jot down your story on a slip of paper and place it on top of the jigsaw before you clingfilm it. It This will adds a genuine personal touch to your work, which visitors will enjoy.
